It's Spooky Season Again!

Get Creative with Pumpkins
Whether it's lighting a party with string-light pumpkins or a festive jack-o-lantern, there are tons of ways to use this Halloween classic.
By carving lots of small holes into a pumpkin and filling each hole with a string light, you can create a very festive (and illuminating) centerpiece. Or you could lean into All Hallow's Eve history and carve many small gourds, mounting each one on a light. This works better with a larger bulb and is a little more work, even if it's a little more authentic. Further, wrapping holiday lights around a mason jar is a great substitute for a candle to fill the jack-o' lantern and is much more fire-safe.
Arts and Crafts
Painting pumpkins is an underutilized Halloween trick. A couple of bone-white pumpkins contrast nicely with their orange fellows. Further, with some quick carving, you can turn a pumpkin into a vase, a candy bowl, or even a keg!
Candy Corn: A Sweet Treat with a Spooky Twist!
Candy corn garlands are a Halloween classic! A needle, thread, and a bag of candy corn are more than enough to make an adorable decoration. Further, the candy works great as decor: a clear jar filled with candy corn looks great on a cabinet!
Sculpt a Spirit
It's super easy to make your own ghost! A shaped tomato cage with white fabric over it already goes a long way, but you get extra credit for a scary face or an interior glow. The mason jar holiday light trick is a great way to accomplish this!
Cobwebs: A Little Goes a Long Way
Use rope, holiday lights, or even store-bought cobwebs to elevate the atmosphere. With store-bought cobwebs, remember, less in more! Real cobwebs are very thin, one bag is usually enough to decorate your whole house. A little more effort and stylization is required with rope or string lights, but with a little effort, you can make a massive, menacing (and adorable) cobweb. Bonus points for a giant spider or bats!
Send a Memorable Invitation
There are hundreds of free templates online, but we promise, your party will get so much extra credit with a spooky invitation. It adds much more flare than an email, or worse, a text. Even more credit if you get extra creative: delivering the message in a test tube, or a sealed envelope (just brown it with old coffee and let it dry) or include some candy corn or other sweets.
You'll get as much out of the holidays as you put in. But that doesn't necessarily mean you have to break the bank! A handwritten invitation or a spooky homemade ghost will be much more heartwarming and memorable to your guests than the generic versions.
